Today is World Education Support Personnel Day.

We are eager to recognize the professionalism, experience, and commitment of each Education Support Worker within DSB1 and their integral role within our schools, offices, and learning spaces. May 15 is International Day of Families which provides an opportunity to increase awareness and knowledge of the social, economic, and demographic changes affecting families.

The 2023 International Day of Families raises awareness around demographic changes and their impact on families.

Children and Youth in Care Day, recognized annually on May 14, acknowledges the valuable contributions that current and former youth in care make to our province, as well as the strength and resilience shown by these individuals in the face of adversity.

Emergency Preparedness Week (May 7-13, 2023) encourages Canadians to build awareness about actions people can take for prepare for emergency situations.

Today, May 10, at 12:55 PM, there is a scheduled Alert Ready test. This test will sound on radio, television, and LTE compatible mobile devices – including those in our DSB1 classrooms.

Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day for connecting, learning, and sharing. The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led grassroots movement recognized across Canada, supporting a collective journey of reconciliation and creating a country free of violence against all women and children.

At DSB1, students learn in a variety of stimulating, sensory-rich environments, including the outdoors. Land based learning allows elementary and secondary learners to develop relationships, CONNECT with the land, TAKE NOTICE of their surroundings, and BE ACTIVE with movement and motion.
