April 2 is the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Acceptance Day (WAAD), which marks the beginning of World Autism Month, honoured by Autism Speaks.

We are excited to launch the DSB1 Pride Month T-Shirt Contest, which invites all Grade 7-12 students across DSB1 to create an original work of art for our new Pride t-shirt that will be worn throughout June across DSB1!

This month, within the March 2023 Strategic Plan Vignette, we are eager to highlight numerous examples of how students overcome adversity and demonstrate immense courage. At DSB1, we help empower all learners to achieve personal excellence when we anticipate, identify and work to remove barriers for each learner.

It is Epilepsy Awareness Month, and on March 26, Purple Day is internationally recognized as a day to wear purple in a collective effort to increase awareness about epilepsy worldwide.

Each year February is acknowledged as Black History Month. DSB1 joins our community and nation in celebrating the impactful achievements and contributions of Black Canadians to the history and continued growth of our country.

This March Break, DSB1 is pleased to offer our students and families free recreational skating and swimming at community facilities throughout the region!

January 25, 2023, marked the 13th annual Bell Let’s Talk Day.

Since 2011, Bell Let’s Talk Day has helped to provide a platform for Canadians and individuals around the world to participate collectively in a conversation around mental health. At DSB1, we consider mental health and well-being critical in the promotion of student success and achievement.
